Xeno officially supports Windows 10 and Windows 11 64-bit. Most users have no issues, but Windows 11 introduces a few extra security features that can block executors silently. Here is what to check if Xeno won't open or attach on Windows 11.
First: Install the Required Dependencies
This is the most common fix on fresh Windows 11 installs. Xeno needs both runtimes before it will open:
Install both, restart your PC, then try launching Xeno again. If it still fails, run the .NET installer and choose Repair.
Fix 1: Run as Administrator
Windows 11 is stricter about process permissions. Right-click the Xeno executable and select Run as administrator. A Microsoft Q&A answer about Xeno attach failures specifically recommends this fix when the executor works on one account but not another [citation:2].
Fix 2: Check Core Isolation
Windows 11's Core Isolation / Memory Integrity feature can silently block executors. Users on Windows 11 report that Xeno does nothing when launched, and the suggested fix is to disable Core Isolation in Windows Security settings [citation:4].
- Open Windows Security.
- Go to Device security → Core isolation details.
- Turn off Memory integrity.
- Restart your PC.
Security note: Disabling Core Isolation reduces protection against driver-level malware. Only do this if you understand the trade-off, and consider turning it back on when you are not using Xeno.
Fix 3: Extract the ZIP Properly
One Windows 11 user reported that Xeno "just wasn't an .exe" after extraction. This happens when the ZIP is opened and the file is run directly from inside the archive. Always extract the ZIP to a folder first, then run the executable from that folder [citation:7].
Fix 4: Clean Reinstall After a Roblox Patch
If Xeno worked yesterday and stopped today, Roblox likely patched. Old builds cannot attach after a client update. Download the latest build from the button above, delete the old folder, and extract to a fresh location. See Xeno After a Roblox Update for the full checklist.
Still not opening? Check How to Fix Xeno Errors for the full troubleshooting order. If it opens but won't attach, see Xeno Not Attaching.
Safety Reminder for Windows 11 Users
Windows 11's Defender is more aggressive than Windows 10's. If it flags Xeno, do not disable your antivirus completely. Add a folder exclusion instead. See Windows Defender False Positives for the safe method.
